Move-In Underway For New Park View School

Move-in has begun at the new Park View School with staff transferring operations to the new facility on Lee Seminary Road, south of I-40.

Principal Melody Presley said they are getting new furniture with the new building so they are primarily focused on moving the supplies and basic necessities that each grade level leads. Presley said she is working to make the process as organized as possible while they move into the new location one grade at time.

“We load up a grade level and then come over to the new school and unload a grade level, and then we do another grade level in the afternoon,” Presley said. “So it’s a lengthy process and it’s a sweaty process, but it’s really fun because we get to start planning out and organizing our new space.”

Presley said the move is so exciting for the Park View community because they have been in their former school building since 1952. She said they are moving everything with the help of teachers, volunteers, students from the Youth Employment Program, and workers from Duncan Transfer and Storage. She said the move is set to be completed on Friday.

“So far we are staying on schedule with our move,” Presley said. “I’m sure there may be a few items that we have to move next week, but if we keep moving at the speed that we are, have started at, we should be complete by Friday with all of the major items.”

Presley said the new building is like a dream come true for the Park View community.

“It is bright and it is very functional and it is, I don’t even know how to describe it,” Presley said. “It is amazing compared to our former school.”
