A move-in date for Overton County’s new County Services Building has been set for September.
County Executive Ben Danner said the county executive and veteran’s offices will be the first to relocate.
“We have a plan to move a couple offices at a time. Archives are going in the basement, and then, my office and the veterans office are going upstairs and moved first,” Danner said. “Then, start moving the offices on the main floor then.”
Currently, sidewalks are being installed around the new building.
Danner said the time frame for when all offices will officially move has not been set. Danner said COVID was the only major delay during construction.
“Last time we were a couple weeks behind, because of the COVID and some of the crews got that,” Danner said. “We are looking at the first of September to start moving. Right now, everything is looking like they are close to the time frame.”
Danner said the county will leave behind majority of its paperwork in the old building to be shredded. Danner said multiple parties have already expressed interest in renovating the building for other uses.
