This fall a Sparta institution will be open year round.
Mountain Sno owner Debbie Remillard said the dessert shop will soon move and be open year round.
“People have asked us for years and years and years to stay open year round and the building we were in was a trailer and wasn’t on city sewer so we couldn’t because it wasn’t insulated, but now that we are we hope they come out and support us,” Remillard said.
The Remillard family has owned and operated Mountain Sno for about 15 years, she said. When the shop opens in April, the drive-thru line is so long cars are stuck on Bockman Way.
“Our building was only about an 8×12 foot building, so it was a very small area and we wanted to be open year round and offer more parking and so that’s why we decided to move,” Remillard said.
They’ll take possession of the former Pa’s Smoke Shop building on October 1. That’s across Bockman Way from the current Mountain Sno location. Remillard said there’s additional parking and there will still be a drive-thru. A larger shop means the opportunity to offer other foods, like make-and-take salads or soups in the winter.
Remillard said they hope to open in November.
