Two Monterey businesses still have a little more work to do before they can begin offering package liquor sales.
Monterey Mayor Bill Wiggins said the Alcoholic Board of Commissioners met last night to review applications for those businesses to sale packaged liquor.
“The board felt that we needed a little more information before we proceed with issuing a certificate of compliance,” Once that’s done those folks can move on to the Alcoholic Beverage Commission in Nashville and get in business.”
Wiggins said the newly adopted liquor ordinance requires interested businesses to meet all zoning requirements along with all county and municipal ordinances before a certificate of compliance can be issued.
The former Rocky Pop’s Barbecue on East Stratton and Carl’s Market have not yet met all of those requirements.
Wiggins said Carl’s Market still needs to complete some work on the building before a certificate can be issued. The owners of the former Rocky Pop’s Barbecue will need to pave the parking lot in order to move forward with getting a certificate considered.
“The board has charged me and the codes officer to work with these people so we can expedite these measures and get it on to the alcoholic beverage commission.
