Upper Cumberland residents purchased more than 1,000 weather radios over the course of some 15 hours of live appearances since June 26.
Wilson Bank and the stations of Stonecom Radio joined together on The Bank On Warnings Program to promote storm awareness in the region. The need for a second alert system in your home remains critical during severe weather.
“Our community understands the importance of protection in the aftermath of the March storms,” Wilson Bank Cookeville Manager Philip Clemmons. “It means a lot to our Wilson Bank family that so many families have taken advantage of this life-saving tool. If you haven’t gotten that second alert system for your family, do so.”
Thanks to Wilson Bank and the family at Stonecom Radio, more than half the price of each radio was subsidized to keep the costs of each radio low for families across the region.
The AM/FM Weather Radios, made by La Crosse, retail for nearly $50.
The Stonecom team visited Cookeville, Gainesboro, Livingston, Monterey, Smithville and Sparta as part of the Bank on Warnings Program. Local residents came by and purchased the radios quickly, producing sellouts in less than one hour at almost every stop.
Stonecom has purchased additional radios that are now available exclusively at our Cookeville studios. These radios are priced at $20, still half of the retail price.
Lite Rock 95.9, 106-9 Kicks Country, Rock 93-7 and News Talk 94.1/AM 1600 are located at 3555 Old Sparta Road, Cookeville, at the corner of Highway 111.
Radios are available between 9am-4pm weekdays. You can pay with credit card or cash.
“Storms affect our area every month of the year, hopefully, they will not be severe,” Stone President Larry Stone said. “By having the radio that can pickup Weather Service alerts and then our coverage when situations warrant, you have the best chance to stay ahead of the storm.”
