Moody Charged Following Pursuit Spanning Multiple Counties

A man allegedly discarded 500 grams of methamphetamine from his vehicle during a pursuit with Cookeville Police.

Authorities arrested 30-year-old Dustin Moody after the chase ended in Wilson County Wednesday morning. He’s charged with possession of a schedule II drug for resale, evading arrest, tampering with evidence, and reckless endangerment.

Cookeville Police began investigating Moody after receiving intelligence about a blue Audi A4 involved in illicit drug activity. Officers attempted a traffic stop after observing the suspect vehicle speeding on Interstate 40.

Officials said Moody ignored emergency equipment and fled westbound before spike strips disabled the vehicle in Wilson County. A press release said Cookeville Police K9 Kilo helped apprehend Moody after he fled on foot.

The release said officers observed the driver discard items from the vehicle during the pursuit. In Smith County, authorities recovered 500 grams of a substance believed to be methamphetamine.
