Monterey residents received an early Christmas gift as the East Stratton Avenue Taco Bell opened for business Monday.
Mayor Bill Wiggins said it’s a marquee addition to the city’s business community.
“We’re in the process of revitalizing downtown, but actually the action is going to be along East Stratton and South Holly,” Wiggins said. “Taco Bell has ventured to Monterey and we hope this gets the attention of other folks.”
The restaurant opened up with a staff of 25 local citizens from Monterey. Co-owner Adam Reagan said the restaurant will operate until midnight Sunday through Thursday.
“We’re open until 1 a.m. on the weekends,” Reagan said. “Friday and Saturday nights, if you’ve got the late night munchies you can come by. We’re also going to serve breakfast everyday beginning at 7 a.m.”
City officials first announced that Taco Bell would locate in Monterey in July, 2018. Crews began constructing the new restaurant in September.
