Monterey Aldermen tabled a decision on purchasing evergreen trees to place on the edge of the town garage’s property.
Mayor Alex Garcia said the proposal is for 30 evergreen trees that would cost an estimated $3,000. Garcia said Water Distribution Supervisor Bobby Farley approached him wanting the trees for privacy reasons.
“From what Bobby tells me the fence was put a little inside our property, so he wants to put it outside the fence on the property line,” Garcia said. “Somebody has bought a lot across the street tied to it.”
The board wanted to see the trees be bid out before making a decision. Garcia said the town has the money in the budget for the expenses.
“They are going to split between the garage and the water department because they are both housed there,” Garcia said. “So it’s already in the budget and we don’t have to find a spot for it.”
Garcia said he did not know how tall the trees would be but Farley spoke with someone in McMinnville about the trees. Garcia said for the price he is sure the town would not get duped.
“I mean for a $100 I’m sure we are not going to get shrubbed,” Garcia said.
Garcia said the trees would go along the North and East sides of the property. Garcia said Farley has a plan in place on where the trees would be placed.
