The Monterey Senior Center has created a new logo that embodies the theme of the town.
Director Brigitte Delk said building a community while improving outreach was the idea behind the new brand.
“We had the saying Monterey Senior Center, but that was it,” Delk said. “There was no logo. There was no Facebook page. There was not social media and that is something that I have worked hard on just to get it out and get more local people knowing about it more than just the ones in town.”
Delk said the senior center users played a large role during the process and voted on design. Delk said the inspiration came from the Monterey’s logo “Where the Hilltops Kiss the Sky.” Delk said it includes the center’s name with a mountainous design.
“Just because I am the director, this isn’t just my baby. This is their place. This is their gathering place. This is for them,” Delk said. “I wanted something that they would be proud of and happy to wear. So we came up with a couple logos and voted on them.”
Delk said with the logo complete, the next step is implementing it. Delk said she plans on installing new signs and creating t-shirts for the seniors. Delk said so far, the design has been well received.
“It’s really simple, but it is us,” Delk said. “It has our name on it, our phone number and it is great.”
Delk said a $5,000 grant from TCAT helped fund the project.
