Monterey requesting to apply for grant funding to extend the Meadow Creek Park trail.
Cultural Administrator Rafferty Cleary said the $7,500 would be used for an additional mile if awarded.
“Not too long ago the town officially opened up about two miles of hybrid mountain bike hiking trail at Meadow Creek Park,” Cleary said. “So, we’re just trying to apply for some additional funding.”
Cleary said the funding is just a small step in larger plans for the trail. Cleary said there is enough space for up to 14 miles of trail in the park.
Cleary said the funding comes through a national bicycling infrastructure advocacy group. Cleary said the city would later apply for the grant officially if the organization approves the intent letter.
October 15th the deadline to apply for the funding if Monterey makes that next step.
