A Monterey man has landed behind bars for allegedly stealing a vehicle Monday.
The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office charged 25-year-old Canton Allen Flowers with theft of property.
According to an arrest warrant, Sergeant Larry Bates spotted Flowers driving a mud-covered vehicle on Welch Avenue in Monterey.
A records check of the registration revealed someone had reported the 2014 Chevrolet Cruze stolen from a Cookeville business.
Flowers admitted to driving the vehicle, but said his friend had loaned it to him.
Flowers remains jailed on $5,000 bond.
