A Hawkins County man reported missing in Cumberland County was found safe by search crews Sunday.
Cumberland EMA Director Rick Williams said 56-year-old Michael Payne was found uninjured around 11:43 a.m. roughly two miles downstream from Antioch Bridge.
According to Williams, Payne left a note on his vehicle near Antioch Bridge at 2:18 p.m. Saturday before paddling to Devil’s Breakfast Table north of Crab Orchard.
Williams said Payne’s daughter reported him missing after he did not return home from his trip. Search crews and the Tennessee Highway Patrol assisted in helping locate Payne.
