Missing Jackson County Woman Located By Responders

A Jackson County woman reported missing on Sunday has been located.

Overton County Sheriff John Garrett said a Jackson County man reported that he and the woman were walking down Roaring River after parking near the Hardy-Reagan Bridge.

“At some point, it started to get dark, they became separated and that was on Saturday so Sunday morning we get this report,” Garrett said. “So from there of course rescue squad was called, our officers responded, and the search started from that point and went on through Monday.”

Garrett said on Monday they were able to get aerial assistance from the Tennessee Highway Patrol helicopter. He said the woman was located with minor injuries and dehydration. Garrett said at this time there is no confirmation on how they became separated.

Garrett said both individuals were not from the area, and the unfamiliarity may have contributed to the situation.
