The TBI released it’s annual domestic violence report this week.
The report found that men made up about 1/3 of all domestic violence victims statewide.
Family Justice Center Director Amy Stockwell said the Upper Cumberland numbers are a bit lower.
“I’d say Family Justice Center client wise, it’s probably about 8 percent, but the police reports that we see, it’s maybe 12 percent,” Stockwell said.
Even though they make up a smaller percentage, male victims of domestic violence still need help.
“We’re here for any type of victim, not only domestic violence but that’s a huge amount of the people that we see, but I think in some cases it’s harder for a man to report it or to ask for help,” Stockwell said.
