Memorial Day Events Across The Upper Cumberland

Several Memorial Day celebrations will take place across the Upper Cumberland Monday.

Cookeville’s program will be held at 11 am Monday on the south lawn of the Putnam County Courthouse. Putnam County Veterans Service Officer Mark Harris will lead the Pledge of Allegiance, and Circuit Court Clerk Jennifer Wilkerson will sing the National Anthem. Randy Porter will present opening remarks. Putnam County Mayor Randy Porter will present opening remarks.

Crossville hosts its Memorial Day Program at 11 am Monday at the Cumberland County Courthouse. The ceremony will include patriotic music selections from the Cumberland County Community Band and a speaking appearance by Senator Paul Bailey. The program will conclude with the raising of flags at Noon.

Sparta’s Memorial Day program will be presented by American Legion Post #99 at 10 am Monday at Metcalf Park.

Livingston’s program will be held Monday at 10 am on the Livingston Square. Local resident and Tennessee Representative Ed Butler will be speaking. American Legion Bohannon Post #4 members will be assisted by members of American Legion Auxiliary Unit #4, as well as the Overton County Veterans Coalition Honor Guard, members of the community, and the Livingston Academy Band.

Smithville’s ceremony will be held at the Smithville Memorial Cemetery Monday at 10:30 am. The program will feature music from Angela Viebrock and the American Legion Band. Shawn Moore, Executive Director & Founder of Caregivers on the Homefront, will be the guest speaker. In the event of inclement weather, the ceremony will be moved to the American Legion Post #58 building.
