McMinnville’s Yellow Dot Program Sign-Ups Success, More Dates To Be Added

McMinnville’s Yellow Dot Program event last week got such positive results, McMinnville Police want to do it again.

The program provides information on an individual’s medical condition to be kept in the car’s glove compartment.

McMinnville Police Lieutenant Mark Mara said that he heard from many people about their relief at becoming a part of the life-saving program.

“It’s a no-brainer,” Mara said. “I mean this is to help people that are having medical needs involving a crash and they can’t and let people know what’s going on, and then we can get that medical information immediately passed on to the doctor that they’re going to be visiting.”

Mara said the event saw some 65 sign-ups for the program. He said that because of the success, they were already working on getting more dates set up in the near future.

Mara said they didn’t expect such a turnout because of questions and concerns people had about the program.

“I think one of the biggest questions people had was,’What does this cost me,'” Mara said. “It doesn’t cost you anything. All it’s going to do is take about 10 to 15 minutes of your time.”
