McMinnville law enforcement and the fire department will be checking car seats for safety Saturday.
Police Lieutenant Mark Mara said they see a lot of installation mistakes, wrong size car seats and expired seats. Mara said they’ve seen a number of car accidents where a childs seat was not installed correctly.
“We’ve had traffic stops where it wasn’t done correctly and we had to help them out with it,” Mara said. “We just know that in Warren County we’ve already found out that seven out of the 10 car seats that are checked, are incorrect. So we know that there’s a need for this help.”
The inspection event is from 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM at 301 Hardaway Street. Mara said that parents and care givers can have this service done at other times.
Mara said to call 668-7000 or reach out to McMinnville Police and Fire Departments and Warren County Sheriff’s Office to schedule an appointment for installation help. He said they will even come to where you are to perform this service.
