McMinnville Police and Fire Battle In Softball

The McMinnville Police Department and Fire Department will square off Thursday in a charity softball game to raise school supplies for local schools.

This is the third year in a row for the Battle of the Badges, each department having one once. McMinnville Police Chief Nichole Mosely said getting school supplies for local schools is important to both departments.

“That is the main reason why we are having this,” Mosely said. “It is to help the community, the schools, and the teachers to help with the supplies. I mean that’s the whole reason for having the game and plus a fun little competition between the apartments added in there.”

The departments have made a trophy that whoever wins will get to keep the trophy for a year. Bragging rights will be on the line and a mission to get school supplies for local schools is just like turning a double play.

Fire Department Fire Prevention Officer Scott Norrod said the game is just to show the community that the departments are human.
