McMinnville officials have selected a site for the city’s skate park.
The city’s Parks and Recreation Committee has unanimously voted to build the sate park at the McMinnville Civic Center. Travor Galligan is President of Friends of the Greenway and helped spearhead the project.
“You know, I think it’s something our community has needed for a long time,” Galligan said. “I know a lot of other similar sized communities have one and there seems to be a lot of demand for one, but not a lot of appetite to fund it.”
Galligan did manage to find the funding in a $90,000 grant the Friends of the Greenway received earlier this year.
The grant will purchase equipment for the park and the city will work on other grant opportunities to fund the 90×40 level pad.
A complettion date is set for January 2018.
