McMinnville Gains New Parks And Rec Director

McMinnville has found a new Parks and Recreation Director in Justin Scott.

Scott has been working for the city since 2005. He said that he hopes that in his new role, he’ll be able to better the wellness and parks experience of the McMinnville community.

“Mostly just enhancing the health and wellness of our patrons and through our parks, recreation, arts, leisure, and cultural opportunities,” Scott said. “We offer so many things in our facility, we’re not just recreation. We offer Spanish classes, and we offer just all these different programs.”

Scott said that much of his work relies on collaboration, so the key to success is having a good team. He said that he’s excited to start work with his staff on making these changes.

“I think I really want to look at improving some of our existing parks, things that we have,” Scott said. “We’ve got some things that we need some renovations done on. But it could be anything from adding exercise equipment in our parks or adding new pathways to those parks.”

Scott said that he also wants to try and bring the resources of McMinnville to the great Warren County area. He said that through the Parks and Rec Master Plan they’re working on, they hope to bring more playgrounds and equipment to underserved areas.

Scott said that at the end of the day, he’s excited to work with the city and making McMinnville and Warren County an even greater place to live.
