Cookeville High School has a new leader.
CHS assistant principal Clif Matlock was chosen as the school’s new principal Tuesday.
Putnam County Schools Director Jerry Boyd said Matlock was one of three internal candidates on the short list for the job. All three had similar qualifications, Boyd said. It came down to which candidate was a better fit for the school, he said.
“Certainly has demonstrated the work ethic and the knowledge to take on this role, and learn, continue to move Cookeville High School forward in the direction it needs to for students and for the community,” Boyd said.
Matlock is already on the job at Cookeville High.
