Master Plan Contract Approved For Meadow Creek Park

The Monterey Board of Mayor and Aldermen have hired a Lebanon-based company to perform a master plan for the Meadow Creek Park project.

The $5,000 contract with Warren and Associates will direct the firm to come up with a plan for the 283-acre park.

“We’ve got to get started and have something to work from. We have nothing to spring from without some expertise,” Mayor Bill Wiggins said. “After that you make decisions. Do we really want to the build the hiking and biking trails? Do we really want to kayak ramps?”

The Standing Stone Health Care Board will pay for the contract through a fund established several years ago for such projects.

Monterey recently held a public meeting to help gather ideas to improve recreational opportunities for Meadow Creek Park.

Ideas have ranged from kayak ramps, rock climbing, mountain bike trails, and hiking trails. The town recently applied for a TDEC grant that would help fund many of those projects.
