Mark Sims Hired To Lead Lady Wildcats

Monterey High School has hired Mark Sims as the new girl’s head basketball coach.

Sims replaces Todd Hess, who retired earlier this month after serving as head coach for 11 seasons.

Sims served as an assistant coach under Hess.

Monterey High School Athletic Director Chris Buckner said he’s looking forward to watching Sims coach.

“It’s hard to replace 11 years of experience, but when you’ve got somebody that’s familiar with the kids and the way the program has been run, it make for a little easier transition,” Buckner said.

Buckner said Sims will have some big shoes to fill in replacing Hess as head coach of the Lady Wildcats.

“Coach Hess impacted our kids over the years,” Buckner said. “People not involved in sports don’t realize how much time and effort these coaches put in. I just want him to know how much I appreciate the time and effort he put in for our kids over the past 11 years.”
