Manna House Ministries seeing success in its expanded role of helping people recover from substance abuse.
Manna House Ministries Executive Director Billy Webb said the program now offers outpatient services instead of outsourcing them. Fentress County has used $7,695 of Drug Opioid Task Force Funds to help fund the expansion. Webb said he believes being able to offer the services themselves has led to big success.
“Just at what we were seeing throughout the years of having to outsource people and refer them which it created a lot of hurdles for people seeking treatment and recovery,” Webb said. “So being able to offer substance abuse services here was just paramount.”
Webb said the program enrolled 15 people and already graduated three. Four more set to graduate within the next month. Webb said the results have been above what they thought could be accomplished.
“It is exceeding our expectations for sure,” Webb said. “We knew ahead of time of course that there was a huge need for something like this in our county.”
Webb said he encourages Fentress County residents who are struggling with substance abuse to reach out to Manna House Ministries to take the first step toward recovery.
“If you are somebody who has been going along in life and you hit a hiccup in life and substance has become an issue for you and that happens a lot it happens more times than not,” Webb said. “Outpatient treatment service may be ideal for you, cause it is a way to receive services and not have to leave your home.”
Webb said he and his wife both have recovered from substance abuse and stressed to people in the program that they are not going to take authority over them and are there to help them. Webb said one lady who graduated entered the program homeless and now has recovered, obtained a full-time job, and has her own apartment. Webb hopes that people will look at the success story as hope for them to overcome substance abuse.
