Manna House Ministries Helping Those With Substance Abuse Issues

Fentress County’s Manna House Ministries is working to help those struggling with addiction through a faith-based recovery program.

Director Billy Webb said the nonprofit works in the same context as outpatient therapy. He said they also help to connect patients to potential resources they may need in their recovery journeys.

“Oftentimes it’s really misunderstood about what recovery and treatment really is,” Webb said. “It’s a lot more than not using. A lot of times it’s a rebuilding of that whole person. So we try to be really intentional with our approach.”

Webb said with the opioid and narcotic epidemic currently raging in the Upper Cumberland, they see a lot of need for these services. Webb said the county saw just two overdose deaths in 2018. He said they are already at more than 20 this year.

Webb said Manna House recently worked with a private counseling firm to join together and offer life and substance services at their Jamestown location. He said this would be a huge game changer for what they can offer.

“What that will enable us to do at Manna House is offer an intensive outpatient program (IOP) and couple that with the recovery support program that we already offer,” Webb said. “That’s been a huge need in our area, we have not had a treatment center. So technically now we have a treatment center credential which opens the door to what we can offer in our services.”
