Man Must Serve Sentence For Vehicular Homicide Conviction

A Fentress County man convicted of vehicular homicide and vehicular assault must serve his time in prison.

The Tennessee Appellate Court upheld Johnny David Key’s eight and four-year concurrent sentences for a June, 2016 accident. His vehicle collided with a woman killing her and injuring another person.

Key argued his clean record should have factored into his sentencing, making him a candidate for probation.

The court found Key made no arguments, either at trial or on appeal, that he should receive community sentencing. Further, the court argued that Key chose to drive on a frequently-travelled road while intoxicated “well beyond” the legal limit.
