Man Cited After Ambulance Crash in White County

A Cookeville man was cited for failure to yield after a crash involving a Cumberland County EMS ambulance in White County Monday morning.

According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, 19-year-old William Mullican was transported to Highland Medical Center in Sparta with undisclosed injuries.

The THP report indicates Mullican attempted to stop at a traffic signal along Flat Rock Road until he slid into the eastbound lane of Highway 70. Mullican’s 2008 Honda Civic collided with an ambulance driven by 46-year-old Jamey Beaty, of Jamestown.

Two people were in the back of the ambulance at the time of the crash, including 41-year-old Darrell Rector and 80-year-old James Gentry, both of Crossville. Beaty, Rector, and Gentry were taken to Cumberland County Medical Center with minor injuries.

The extent of Mullican’s injuries or his condition following the accident are currently unknown.
