Cookeville Man Charged With Possessing Meth, Heroin

A Cookeville man faces drug and child abuse charges following a vehicle search by the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office on July 15.

According to arrest warrants, 38-year-old Roscoe Wadford had an outstanding capias against him on a failure-to-appear charge. Deputies searched Wadford and his vehicle, in which deputies found small amounts of methamphetamine and heroin as well as a syringe.

Warrants state three children – all under the age of eight-years-old – were in the vehicle at the time of the search.

Wadford was charged with two counts simple possession, one count child abuse, and one count possession of drug paraphernalia. His bond was initially set at over $12,000, but was released July 24 on a reduced bond at $2,000.

Wadford’s court date is scheduled for August 29.
