Man Arrested Tuesday After Woman Overdoses in Crossville

Crossville Police arrested a man Tuesday night after responding to an apparent heroin overdose.

28-year-old Anthony Fritts faces multiple charges including several active warrants out of Dickson County.

According to a police report, dispatchers received a call from a residence on Maranatha Lane regarding a pregnant woman who may have overdosed.

The 23-year-old woman was found passed out on the kitchen floor with pinpoint pupils and shallowly breathing several times a minute. First-responders revived the woman using Narcan and transported her to Cumberland Medical Center for treatment.

The report states witnesses told police Fritts fled into the woods before first-responders arrived on scene. A K9 officer was used to help track down Fritts in a wooded area several hundred feet from the residence.

According to the report, Fritts told police that he had found the woman passed out and tried to wake her.

During the investigation, authorities located brown and white powdery substances identified by Fritts as heroin. Police also located multiple drug paraphernalia items at the scene.

Fritts was placed under arrest and taken to the Cumberland County Justice Center where he will be transported to Dickson County.
