Major Power Outage In Jackson County

A major power outage has occurred in Jackson County.

County EMA Public Information Officer Derek Woolbright said the wind has caused several power lines and poles to fall across the area.

In addition, Woolbright said fallen trees damaged several homes and vehicles Saturday morning and afternoon.

The Schelly Road and Freestate Road areas in Midwestern Jackson County got hit particularly hard, Woolbright said.

Woolbright said Upper Cumberland Electric Membership Corporation (UCEMC) customers could be without power for up to eight hours or more.
