Main Street McMinnville’s New Leadership Ready To Continue Revitalization Mission

Main Street McMinnville has found a new president in Raven Young.

Young joined the board about a year ago. She said that the group’s mission to revitalize the downtown area began some 20 years ago, and that it is excited to refocus and continue its work.

“And we want to really maintain what has been done in downtown,” Young said. “We also want to be able to help our businesses, promote our businesses from an economic vitality standpoint. We just really want to help continue to grow.”

Young said that the organization also voted four new board members to the board. She said that having new blood in the organization will help move the organization and its mission forward.

“I know what McMinnville can do,” Young said. “And I’ve seen what good this board can do and has brought. Through Main Street McMinnville we can get special grants for our businesses downtown, I know within the last year the board has brought through the Tennessee Main Street, we were able to get facade grants and awning grants for several of the properties downtown. ”

Young said that MSM brought in some $56,000 in grants, which were then able to be turned around and doubled through the businesses and saw some $125,000 that was invested into downtown.

Young said that as a property owner in the downtown area herself, she wants to ensure that businesses’ needs are met and the community is taken care of as it continues to grow.
