Magness Library Starts Adult Book Club

McMinnville’s Magness Library has started a new book club focused on books for adults.

Assistant Director Merissa Chapman said she came up with the idea after wanting to create a group to independent of other book clubs.

“I have like three different book clubs on Facebook that I follow, and I just, I love it,” Chapman said. “We didn’t really have anything here ”

Chapman said that while it’s still in its early stages, they plan on reading books of all genres.

“Once it gets going, we’ll have the people who participate helping pick the books out actually, so they’ll give out suggestions and then we’ll more than likely vote on them,” Chapman said. “Just so we have things that people actually want to read.”

Chapman said that current members are excited to grow their club and continue meeting.

“So far everybody’s just excited, we’ve gotten a few people who have ordered the books or have bought the books,” Chapman said. “And they’re getting ready for next month, that is the most feedback I’ve gotten is, ‘oh my goodness, finally a book club.”

Chapman said that people of all ages are welcome to join their book club, as long as those on the younger side have permission to read the content. The next meeting will be Tuesday, July 6th.
