Three Upper Cumberland counties are reporting low turnouts through the first week of early voting in the 17th Senatorial District special election.
Officials with the Smith County Election Commission reported less than 150 votes through the first week of early voting.
DeKalb County Election Administrator Dennis Stanley reported 54 recorded votes. A further breakdown shows 30 of those votes being cast in the Republican Primary and 24 in the Democratic Primary.
About 30 people have voted early in Clay County.
State Representative Mark Pody is the only candidate in the Republican Primary and Mary Alice Carfi is running unopposed in the Democratic Primary.
Carfi and Pody will face off in the general election on December 19th.
The 17th District seat left vacant after Mae Beavers resigned to focus on her campaign for governor.
Early voting ends on November 2nd.
