Loutzenheiser Pleads Guilty; Sentenced To 12 Years

A retired Tennessee Tech professor accepted a plea agreement and immediately began serving his prison sentence.

District Attorney General Bryant Dunaway:

“Roy Loutzenheiser, a former professor at Tennessee Tech, pled guilty this morning to attempted aggravated sexual battery. He took a plea, entered a plea in criminal court of Putnam County this morning and was immediately taken into custody and he’ll be serving a 12-year sentence under that plea,” Dunaway said.

He was indicted on three sex charges in 2015, based on incidents that took place in 2008.

Dunaway said the victim and their family was opposed to testifying in the case.

“This was the best resolution that we could come to to protect the public as well as seek justice for the activities Mr. Loutzenheiser chose to engage in,” Dunaway said.

Dunaway said it’s likely Loutzenheiser would serve the full sentence. Parole isn’t often granted to first-time sex offenders, he said. Loutzenheiser will have to register as a sex offender when he is released.
