A local towing company is for community donations to deliver to Mississippi to help the relief efforts of those affected by the weekend tornado.
Rush Towing LLC Owner Steve Rush said that he has been making disaster response trips since 2018. He said this marks around 20 trips he has made to communities in need.
“God puts it on my heart to do so and we put the word out to get the community to back us,” Rush said. “We’re 100 percent non-profit. We just go out to show the love of Christ for others and be able to help people when they need help the most.”
Rush said according to relief workers on the scene, the community of Alabama, Mississippi is set for food and water. He said some of the biggest needs are for baby wipes, diapers, baby food, and other hygiene products.
Rush said they are taking donations until Tuesday at 7 p.m. He said those who want to drop off items can do so at Rush Towing’s trailer located at 3596 Fisk Road.
“At the end of the day, we’re here to help each other,” Rush said. “It doesn’t matter if you’re in another state, if you’re my neighbor. We’re all God’s children and we’re just one of the King’s kids looking out for other kids.”
