Livingston’s Downtown Revitalization On Hold

The City of Livingston has postponed Downtown Revitalization until further notice.

Mayor Curtis Hayes said Livingston was making progress before COVID-19.

“Livingston is in a transition from going from a downtown program to more of a main street program during this transition period right now,” Hayes said. We are filling out the main street applications to try to make Livingston a more attractive place.”

Hayes said he is proud of the work that has been completed in the downtown area. That includes new sidewalks and pavings. Several downtown businesses have also retrofitted their appearances.

“We will continue progress with sidewalks and new lamp posts,” Hayes said. “We’ll be looking to attract other businesses to the downtown area. It’s all about downtown and trying to get folks to come downtown and eat and shop and enjoy downtown Livingston.”

The Downtown Revitalization Committee will continue to apply for grants as opportunities become available.
