Livingston’s Central Park Skating Rink Returns

Ice Skating at Livingston’s Central Park will return for another year this weekend.

Chamber of Commerce Director Shannon Cantrell said the Downtown Revitalization Committee wanted to provide a fun wintertime activity for the community. She said the event was so popular last year, they decided to bring it back.

“It’s not often that you’re able to do any ice skating in the south in general, especially in a rural community,” Cantrell said. “So it’s just something fun not just for our community but for the whole Upper Cumberland region. We’ve been getting calls from all of our surrounding counties and I do believe this is going to be a great event.”

Cantrell said crews spent the day setting up the wooden platform to hold the synthetic ice. She said while it might not be real ice, it looks and feels exactly like a real skating rink.

In addition to the rink, Cantrell said Central Park will play Christmas music during the day and have a Christmas movie feature in the evening. She said the rink will be open from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday through Sunday.

“Not to mention this will be great for Livingston in general because this will bring people in from other communities,” Cantrell said. “And hopefully while they’re here they’ll grab dinner, they’ll shop, and they’ll see what all Livingston has to offer.”

Cantrell said those under 18 will need a parent or guardian’s permission before renting skates.
