Livingston residents will receive new property tax notices later this month, as the city tax office showed off the changes to the Board of Aldermen.
Denise Thompson said the city would be using a new private vendor that prints most of the counties’ tax bills statewide. She said the notices provide more information to residents.
“They look much better,” Thompson said. “They’re in color. They have so much more information on them. They also include a barcode and a QR code and it lists all the different payment options on there. And then also on the back you can see there’s more information about tax relief and so forth.”
The notices also include a return envelope to pay the property tax bill for the first time.
Mayor Curtis Hayes said the new property tax notice will fall in line with new utility bills created this year to better serve residents. Hayes said he has heard only great things from residents.
“I personally like them much better, and I think the customers will be more informed,” Thompson said.
Bills go out in September and can be paid beginning October 2.
