City of Livingston received T-DOT approval for its East Main Street sidewalk repair project designs.
Consultant Ray Evans said the project was made possible through a T-DOT multimodal access grant. He said the project will reconstruct all the sidewalks on East Main Street and East Broad Street stretching from the courthouse to the Chamber of Commerce.
“We’re in the process of acquiring probably 15 temporary construction easements from the various property owners on each side of the road,” Evans said. “And two permanent access easements.”
Evans said they have agreements with all the property owners to donate those easements to the city. He said the attorney is currently preparing easement deeds.
Evans said this is one of the final steps before the city can place the project out for bid and get construction started. He said they will likely bid the project in June and will likely complete the work before the end of the year.
“We’re going to have to do a lot of hand-holding with the adjacent property owners during construction,” Evans said. “To businesses especially, construction is disruptive. So we’ll have the contractors as well as the city coordinating constantly with the property owners to make sure everything goes as smoothly as possible.”
