Livingston Skating Rink To Permanently Close

A popular Upper Cumberland skating rink is permanently closing after operating for nearly 50 years.

The Livingston Skating Rink on Monterey Highway has been sold, according to a statement on its Facebook page.

Maxine and Leon Bowers opened the rink in 1968 and it served the community up until 2015 when the rink closed due to Maxine’s declining health. The rink would occasionally reopen for special events or birthday parties.

Maxine’s family announced the sale of the rink this week and said, although it’s no longer a skating rink it will remain a viable business for Overton County. There’s no word on what business will be locating there.
