Sidewalk renovations in Livingston will begin one week from Monday, replacing sidewalks all around the county courthouse.
“Every corner of the courthouse square will receive improvements,” Downtown Revitalization Committee Chairman Ray Evans said.
Improvements set to begin April 2 include both aesthetic and ADA compliant changes. In addition, Evans said sidewalk work will continue down Spring Street around the new Central Park. New lighting will be installed on Spring Street as well.
Livingston merchants and local citizens received a briefing on the project Thursday night from the committee and Mid South Construction, the project contractor.
“We’re trying to get in and out as quickly as possible to impact the merchants the minimum amount as possible,” Evans said.
Work should be complete by July, Evans said.
The majority of the $600,000 project cost will be paid for through a Tennessee Department of Transportation grant.
“It’s just one of the many elements that the town of Livingston and the Downtown Revitalization Committee is doing to improve and enhance the courthouse square area,” Evans said.
