Livingston Shooting Threat Under Investigation

The Livingston Police Department has cleared the area of any threats following an anonymous threat to open fire in a McDonald’s.

Captain Chris Gore said they are now focused on trying to determine who the call came from. Gore said they have patrol cars watching the area that the threat was referring to.

“But at this time we don’t feel there’s a, any threat in that immediate area or immediate threat to the safety of the schools or the public at this time,” Gore said. “But we are still investigating every possible avenue that we can.”

Gore said they have contacted the Department of Homeland Security to help them identify the caller. Gore said they are checking every lead they can by searching for potential phone numbers or ways to call back the person who issued the threat.

“The Livingston Police Department received a threat of mass violence from an anonymous caller utilizing a restricted phone number this morning,” Gore said. “The caller was believed to be male.”

Gore said it is their standard policy and protocol to lock down the schools in the city when an incident like this occurs.

“The schools are all within a very close radius of that location,” Gore said. “And it was just being a precaution to make sure that, you know, if the individual was around, that he didn’t make it to one of the schools.

Gore said it is unknown if the call has any connection with the bomb threat that took place in Algood Sunday.
