Livingston Overton Chamber Introduces New Role For Community Outreach

The Livingston Overton County Chamber of Commerce has added a new position to its team.

Joe Kalis will serve as the chamber’s Community Outreach Coordinator. Kalis said he will lead a new ambassador program with the goal of connecting business leaders with residents.

“Working with the business owners that are chamber members already and getting them more activated and tied into what they need to do to help out,” Kalis said. “A lot of people want to help, and the Ambassador Program is a little framework to explain how they can get involved.”

Kalis said the program has already kicked off. Kalis said chamber members will make up the group. Kalis said they would volunteer and network to help with chamber functions.

“It’s technically started, and we’re making it more formal now,” Kalis said. “We’ve announced it to a lot of the chamber members. If they want to plug in and contribute to the community in a serving capacity then it is available.”

Kalis comes from Chicago. He visited Livingston during the pandemic two years ago to see his father who recently moved to the area. Kalis said he ended up moving to the city shortly after.

“I fell in love with the square of Livingston,” Kalis said. “It’s a beautiful square and we didn’t really have that back in Chicago where I came from. Just the charm of a small community where everybody is looking to help each other and be connected.”

Kalis said continuing developing the square is a goal of his in the new role.
