Livingston Mayor Celebrated For Tenure

Livingston Mayor Curtis Hayes started his goodbyes Thursday night as the town hosted a celebration at Central Park to honor his commitment and leadership.

Hayes first took office as Mayor in 2006. He will step down officially next week. Hayes said he was honored to see support from the community.

“You know it’s been a good run,” Hayes said. “Community has been so good to me and my family and to see friends come in with a band and all those things its just very humbling.”

Hayes was a major advocate for the construction of Central Park. Hayes said riding off in the sunset at Central Park is just par for the course.

“Central Park is my baby,” Hayes said. “I’ve seen it from the start to finish. We wanted to build a park that the community could be proud of and for other communities to say they wished they had a park like this in their community and I think that’s what we’ve done.”

The celebration consisted of food and live music with many from the community showing support. Hayes said as he reflects on his service he believes Livingston has caught up in times with other communities.

“I hope that I made a difference,” Hayes said. “That’s always been the goal was to make a difference.”
