Livingston is addressing lighting downtown at the West Main Street parking lot.
Downtown Revitalization Chairman Ray Evans said getting lighting has been a safety concern for residents, downtown employees and patrons. Evans said bids will open up in a month, but there could be installation delays.
“It depends upon the availability of the poles themselves,” Evans said. “There’s certain commodities right now that are in short supply and I simply don’t know about these poles, whether they’re readily available or whether there’s a long procurement or not.”
Evans said the installation could take as little as three months or as much as nine months. The lot was constructed several years ago, holding roughly 25-30 parking spaces.
“A few years ago we constructed a new parking lot just a block off the square, next to Central Park,” Evans said. “In doing that project, we actually put in conduits for site lighting but did not install that site lighting at that time.”
Evans said the installation would include lighting poles and light fixtures. Evans said the project will be advertised for two weeks, not to exceed $20,000.
