Livingston Holds Work Session On Property Codes

The Livingston Board Of Aldermen and the citizens group Envision Livingston worked Tuesday night on the possible update of the city’s property maintenance code.

The group, founded last March, wants to encourage the improvement and beautification of properties across the community. The citizens also hope to revise and strengthen city ordinances pertaining to property maintenance.

Livingston Mayor Curtis Hayes said the work session included a look at some codes that might not have been address in some time.

“Everyone wants a community you can be proud of,” Hayes said. “Most communities have property maintenance codes and enforce them. It’s just been awhile that the city of Livingston’s has been updated.”

Hayes said the Envision group has studied codes across the state as models for how Livingston’s code should be revised.
