The town of Livingston has just completed a project to revitalize the town square.
Crews have added brick stamping crosswalks around the square as part of a Tennessee Department of Transportation grant.
Mayor Curtis Hayes said the project is part of several big investments over the last 18 months to help make Livingston a more attractive area.
“We started with the completion on a $1.4 million park and since then we have had some businesses, stores, and restaurants to open up downtown,” Hayes said. “We are just tickled and happy with the turnout of everything and we truly believe that we’ve got one of the best downtowns around.”
In addition, the town has also provided downtown business owners with a matching grant to add a canopy or any type of facade improvement to their storefronts.
“We aren’t done yet and we still have a lot of things that we want to do,” Hayes said. “So far we are happy and we’ve had some great partners with TDOT, TDEC, the downtown revitalization committee and the board of aldermen.”
Hayes said a brand new restaurant will be opening in downtown within the next few weeks. The Steel Coop will be located on South Spring Street.
