Billboards are now officially banned inside Livingston city limits.
This week the board of Mayor and Aldermen passed the second reading of an ordinance that prohibits new billboards from being located inside city limits.
The Planning Commission recommended the ordinance, which also has some language changes regarding content of signs and off-premises signs.
Earlier this year Mayor Curtis Hayes said he couldn’t comment on the matter because of pending litigation. Hayes said one local company recently filed a suit in Chancery court seeking permission to build a billboard after being repeatedly denied a permit.
