Livingston Approves Moral, Ethics Policy For Ballpark

Livingston’s Board of Mayor and Aldermen approved a new moral and ethics policy for the city ballpark Monday.

Citizen Albert Jenkins said the policy would help ensure the safety of children playing at the ballpark.

“We’re looking to confront the person being of poor sportsmanship and ask them to leave,” Jenkins said. “If they don’t leave, we want to be able to call the police and have the police deal with them.”

Park Manager Michael Hayes said he would assist in monitoring the park for any bad behavior.

“I think the problem… is if we get unruly parents and things of that nature at a game, then we have no guidelines,” Hayes said. “We have nothing in the policy that states they have to leave, any consequences, or anything like that.”

Police Chief Greg Etherege will also help in taking care of unruly visitors if needed.

Livingston aldermen also approved requiring background checks for coaches who participate at the ballpark.
