Livingston will apply for a TDEC grant to help with the construction phase of the Livingston Industrial Park Project.
Capital Project Coordinator Ray Evans said the grant is worth up to $750,000 and requires a ten percent match. Evans said last year the city did not qualify for the grant.
“Because we had to do due diligence studies we were not eligible for the construction phase,” Evans said. “So now the resolution that you have before you would apply for the construction elements that we could not successfully apply for in the previous round.”
Evans said when the construction phase of the project was originally quoted in 2023, it was estimated at $500,000. Evans said he believes when it is quoted again it will be in the same ballpark.
“I think it will be closer to the $500,000 than it is the $750,000,” Evans said.
Evans said the city cannot officially apply until the current grant is closed out. Evans said he believes the city will be able to apply for this round of grants.
“We think that is going to happen,” Evans said. “We think that we can be done and closed out. I think February 7th is the cutoff date.”
Evans said the resolution allows the city to apply for a grant that does not exceed $750,000 and a ten percent match that does not exceed $75,000.
